Affricata The sibilant songs Of restlessness Serpentine In low belly waves Awaken me to thoughts of you Moving my arms to sprawl In search of your quieting form Calling, calling me Deeper and closer The turmoil building Heaving in my breast Adventures soft and wild Entwining the taut perspectives Of my muscles, gracefully flexed To mimic the wonder of warm Slopes and deep rhythmic breath Moving closer, I whisper Shimmering so, Aglow A holy space kept still All because you are My one, true Thrill Copyright Kkh 7/29/07 |

T.D., Your poem is gorgeous, as I have grown to expect! I noticed you've changed your form here. As you know, I love how you've always linked your word, thought, and sound with assonance, alliteration, etc., but I am also enthused about your poetry written in this form. Great to read you again! "the sibilant songs Of restlessness Serpentine In low belly waves Awaken me to thoughts of you" I love the whole poem, but this captured me immediately! Love "in low belly waves"! What wonderful description! miscellanea |

This embraces, Kathleen, the myriad and mystery of deepest Africa, the stretch of life, the need for sustenance... and the symbolism of what we all strive for. As has been said, you always give us more than we can imagine, but you do it so well. |
