On The Verge Of Tears

certain to cry, I am...I have
felt it welling up for days-
can't tell if I'm angry or sad,
if at you or for me...but anyways

it's coming despite my fear
to mess my skin with water and salt-
or to stain my silken chest...or crash
my car and have my tears at fault

it's inevitable, quite so...and soon
to un-nevermind what I have felt-
unable to short out the longing...or freeze
the candy coating to keep it un-melt

to be fit then to resign the day
to a defeat that only statues know-
to sit beside myself in some quiet
hidden corner...and let it go.

And who's to say it'd be so bad
though it's not to say it'd be that great-
but what's left to do...by the time
symptoms appear...I fear it's clear...
for me to see, it's now too late.

Hey you...

it's okay to cry, even in baseball.

Well written, but terribly and understandably sad.

If life has taught me anything it is that the future will always bring change, and change may be as easily good as bad.

Open the windows of your mind and let these bad mistral winds blow right on through (then slam the windows down on them and laugh as they blow on about their course).

It does help to let it out.  When I get that feeling I try to ignore it but once I get it out I feel better.  Until the next time.

Everybody needs a good cry now and then, I think it's a release that keeps us from blowing our tops. Poetry is good too, it helps us to get those hurtful feelings out.
I hope you felt better after writing this. I enjoyed reading it.

It's inevitable, yes, dear Dixie. I feel the depth of your thoughts and hope tears will bring inner peace and clarity back.

A fine write!

Hi, PS.

Perhaps I am just a clod, but I thought that I dectected a note of whimsy or mirth somewhere under the sadness.  Sort of a "Well, I'm going to cry anyway, so I might as well let it all hang out!" kind of a mood.

Maybe I'm wrong...  If so, I apologize ahead of time!

John, LOL you are right on that one! I'm glad to know people know the feeling I'm trying to convey by only using words, which are so often misunderstood.

thanks everyone for the nice replies here, taken to heart
