There poised upon the precipice, the fool, quite unaware of all things as a rule oblivious that in the balance weighs the secret to his own complete renewal. Perhaps more than the fool which he portrays, truth manifests itself in many ways, as shown by a magicians' slight of hand by which the gifts he grants the fool displays. He journeys farther on into this land confused by these new tools at his command, to spy a priestess high upon her throne confessing what he doesn't understand. She lends him scrolls of wisdom finely honed, and insight's gained from what it is she's loaned. With this, he does begin his quest anew. A future meetings' whisper is intoned. Impatient to begin what he must do he shares his story with an Empress who does speak to him of nurturing all things and so again his journey does ensue. An Emperor is met, a king of kings, such order over all his realm he brings, The fool, on seeing this, implores him "share, just what it is keeps chaos in the wings " "Sheer power of will I've found will keep it there" "Built on a strong foundation, true and square." The fool knew then to lead and not be led as time progressed becoming more aware. The life he'd built 'till now caused him to dread "What if I lose it all, what then?" he said. A Hierophant did hear his anguished plea and gave him what would serve him in its' stead. The Priests' advice so clearly did he see, that fear no longer bound him , he was free to face the Worlds' challenges again returning to his quest most eagerly. He knew his course and what to do, and then, on coming to a turning point my friend, he spied none other but his true soul mate. Some things do not turn out as one intends. She was his other half, made incarnate, their meeting at this point was simple fate. And so, a new direction our fool takes fulfilling both what each initiates. And for a time this works for both their sakes, but things seem to have stalled and in their wake the fool seeks guidance from a charioteer with steeds of black and white beside a lake. " To win a battle draw your conflict near, and guide both dark and light, they're yours' to steer." "But, when the battle's o'er you've just begun." In this way does the fool see his way clear. So confident and pleased with what he's done, his arrogance (short lived) leads him to one who teaches him control over such power. And so, again, the kharmic wheel is spun. A full long life is spent 'till comes the hour the fruits of all he's done start tasting sour and thus aquires the need to search his soul. A blossom somewhere wills itself to flower. Our fool becomes a hermit on a knoll to walk a barren landscape with a pole. But, as his lantern penetrates the night, the seeker's drawing closer to his goal. Emerging from the dark into the light, at this stage everything will come out right, our fool recieves his well deserved rewards yet still seeks that which will give true insight. For this is what he's ever moving towards. the fortune of a brother, do not hoard. "Let each have half " Blind Justice did decree, "for greed is not a vice one can afford." Our fool then rests beneath an ancient tree and ponders what it is his life will be. The Hanged Mans' world soon turns it upside down, perhaps at this point he begins to see. For all that he still clings to has him bound as Death appears this concept he has found may soon reveal the answers that he seeks yet still more questions in his mind resound. For temperence is the voice that's next to speak two cups which hold all things without a leak and balance out each other, tried and true, without which any future would look bleak. The Devil's in the details, nothing new, yet, gives the fool a different point of view, for death itself is cyclic and what's lost will only lead to something born anew. A tower's been erected at great cost yet balances on greeds' thin permafrost. The fool , with but a shout does cause its' ruin and sees another boundry has been crossed. A star appears as well as does the moon each tells of things which will transpire soon, and thus the fool is guided by their glow such is this state with which he is attuned. Proceed to Judgement following and so, he ponders once again where he must go by which, all things considered, he's been weighed "The Fool", but one who's lived quite fully though. Full circle he's returned, one step away, the world that he has known he trades this day, ascending to the heavens in pure light. In view of this, more than a "Fool" I'd say [This message has been edited by Dr.Moose1 (12-29-2007 11:01 AM).] |

![]() (Lady Ser is gonna love this.) One reading isn't enough to digest the whole of this, so into the library it goes! |

I yam lovin' this... I'm a fan of so much that is this--Rubiayat, Fool's Journey, and the par excellent Doc--Kacy is right--there's a lot to absorb, and I have tried to do something similar in the past too, but I got bogged down in a stanza per card and I have to smile now, because I can see why my own didn't work. I'll have to come back to this. (I spent a long time looking for the corresponding spread online, last night. Silly me. ![]() Brilliant you. It is all very personal, isn't it? I'll save this to...um, my desktop. It's the only place I can find anything. I'll be back. ![]() Doc Moose is a doll... |

I don't happen to have a date tonight, but I do find myself wishing that you and I could sit back over a few drinks and chat about this one...It's a fascinating subject and you, my dear doc friend, have taken the challenge to the penultimate. Have a Happy New Year, Doc. And no, a fool you ain't. ![]() ![]() |

I don't comment of too many of the poems that I read on PIP; however, this one is just too amazing to let go by. Then again, you tend towards the upper scale of talent. What would you attempt to do...if you knew you could not fail?. |

Midnitesun, Thank you. I did a shorter linked version of a rubaiyat for the Sun card which was kind of a warm up for this. Just another Pete, Thank you very much. I'm always looking for ways to expand on what I've done. This form seemed to fit the subject. Ringo, Thank you very much for the compliment. I also very seldom reply to others' works, mostly because I don't know what to say, but also because poeple here are too darn nice and I don't want to get bogged down in having to reply to alot of replies. Serenity, I really want to thank you, I'll clink a couple of glasses together. Had I not stumbled on into your challenge, none of these would likely to have been written. One thing leads to another. I've been finding this fascinating, the Tarot cards meanings, the story of the fool, the selection process of which form I feel works best with each card. It is I who owe you thanks, so, THANKS!
