![]() (This is an all-new poem I wrote for this eighteenth of "Twenty Days Of Mistletoe Melisma", inspired by my sauntering last night to Peacock Lane; a neighborhood in southeast Portland famous nationally for being one of the most festive and decorated single city blocks each holiday season. Peacock Lane (Official Web-Site) For more information, visit the official site of Peacock Lane, yay! Pictures of my visit are included in this poem, featuring me after my hair trimming, LOL!) * * ![]() ![]() The Pear Trees Of Peacock Lane By: Noah Eaton 12/23/07 There's a place I love to go, gussied up with candy canes, and merry carolers twitter "The Carnal & The Crane", where penguins and Tiny Tim join in all the reindeer games, here partridges nest in all the pear trees of Peacock Lane. Swift are winging tidings bringing joy to all who come, and hear mistletoe lullabies chirruped by turtle doves, if the crowds can get quite thick, no need to disparage, hop aboard and enjoy the ride on a horse-drawn carriage. Everyone is here, even The Peanuts and the Grinch, as we tarry in the footprints of Good King Wenceslas, the lampposts and mailboxes are plush with poinsettia, and Gregorian chants intone each night with melisma. The air is fragrant with the scent of persimmon pudding, fences strewn with nice fresh ivy and holly sprigs so green, icicle lights besprinkle each and every dwelling, even the Tailor of Gloucester finds this compelling. The street's more iridescent than the Sydney Opera House, and every creature's stirring, especially the deer mouse, if you want to see the Grandest Illumination, come on down for this Immaculate Infatuation. Snowflakes here waltz more nimbly than in the Nutcracker Suite, hot cocoa cheeks replete this wintertide epiphany, if you want to enjoy a happy horsedrawn holiday, you'll find me crooning under the pear trees of Peacock Lane. * ![]() ![]() "If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other" Mother Teresa |
