December Sublet Spirit sudden weather change Bellows curse upon the wind Core the rosy cheeks in range Abscond of winter drapes rescind Slam the porch door, shake the glass Root and tree careening past As if the wizard, Oz has cast A spell Does December spite But cannot tell Perhaps, the snow was disallowed Exchanged for gifts of dragons breath Yet, cooler clues have disavowed Where white drifts covered seedlings death Pare the shed doors, peel the roof Take my breath away in proof Of a season made aloof Gone soft white flake and silent peace March prevails a sublet lease But snow Will come around in Christmas glow And calm the fury sent to blow For winter will return, you know Copyright Kkh 12/23/07 |
