  Chimeric Winter Nights

Pressed between a lovely
  sunset moment
with a chilling Winter eve
rapping at the window,
and the dawning instant
of a frigid Wintry morn
knocking at the door,
lies the chance
to wander vast Elysian
isles of dazzling dreams
and cherished moonlit
  paradigms,
drifting in finest-crystal
seas of endless time;
yet, how shall we handle
the wondrous certainty
of reality's infinite
  change,
and the possibility
that all we claim to 'be'
and truly ‘know’...
is but grand illusion?!

How to handle 'reality'?
With a smile, of course, and a fine cup of tea.

I think of life as a bit of an illusion.
It's always nice when you can turm it into  a beautiful illusion.
Sounds like we can both learn something from a very wise lady by the name of Kacy.

This poem reminds me of Hesse’s Siddhartha, and his marvelous short story, The Indian Life, in which he employs maya, the Sanskrit word for illusion. Hesse seems to imply the world of appearances, the surrounding physical world, blinds us to reality. If I understand it correctly, the belief is that maya is the power in nature that creates this illusion.

Thank you for this fine work, Poet. It was grand to remember, through reading your poem, Hesse's The Indian Life once more.

Beautiful and cold.

Lady Midnitsun was right, with a cup of tea and perhaps, another poem.

Have a wonderful day, sir Bruce.

Yes, "reality" 'tis but an illusion ~ but a "grand" one it be at that! ~ and you illustrate that fact, so poetically, Poet Bruce.
