The Fairies' Lore When a whisper of air touches your cheek And sunbeams dance on the wings of the sky When a song’s tune seems just out of reach Yet resonates to the edge of a sigh * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ Fairies will dance among dreams under the sun Mingle with mortals perhaps deaf and too blind Cavort among those who think they’re alone Whispering words of beauty, gentle and kind * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ Wishes aren‘t granted by beings so small Nor do they cast spells or turn slippers to glass They flit among selfish, cruel and the bold Flying aside for those of evil to pass * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ When night blankets the world from the sun’s rays Fairies drift among the ones sound asleep And whisper of hope - and of love - and of dreams Sharing fantasies for imaginations to keep * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ From their world they come to offer their gifts To dance among moonbeams and share a true love A whimsical joy fairies cast upon Earth When they fly down from clouds soaring above * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ Don’t close your eyes to the beauty around you Don’t muffle the sounds of earth’s symphonic song Keep your mind open to wonders that you can’t see For then the magic of fairies grows strong ~ * ~ * ~ Alison |
