~Write Right~ I'm smiling now and saying, 'hi', Before I blow this mood sky high My friends, now that I have you here There's something I'd like you to hear I find the english language odd And often find myself quite awed I sometimes even feel disgust After the language I've discussed It really makes no sense you see That one should see the deep blue sea Or look up in the sky so blue And feel a gentle breeze that blew Some spellings are so hard to bare I'd almost rather fight a bear Before he struck me with his paws I'd simply ask him, 'please', to 'pause' I WILL say, should you send me mail Feel free to Fed-Ex me a male At very least, he'd help me haul The boxes stacked up in the hall And please inform when I'm the one It could be I've already won I love the english language, but Sometimes it simply pains my butt You ask, 'is there some rule you know?' I simply have to answer 'no' To master english is a feat You may find, in your mouth, your feet Which could, in fact, injure your heel But, not to worry, it will heal So, here's the end of my lesson My goal, confusion to lessen Thank you so much for stopping by And, now it's time to tell you, 'bye' -Vicky L. English language spoken right can at times be hard to write. Some many words the same but not tie foreign tongues in quite a knot. So many words spoken aloud if written wrong are not allowed. When on the wind these words are borne one wonders how English was born. What is it changes words when read to make our teachers mark them red. As words get washed up on the shore I realise I am not sure why I should join this little ode, or what respect these word are owed. As poet, I just climbed on board and maybe leave my readers bored! Sorry Vicky, you inspired me to write this piece and now I'll leave you all in peace! |
