Once upon a time there was a girl who loved a good story; she like to draw peace turtle doves and picture-perfect families. She sang songs just for herself. She liked the way those made her feel. She plunked piano keys as well, wishing she could wish it real. She'd search for clovers with four leaves in patches of the stuff--she crept on her hands and careful knees she studied each stem, counted less as she yanked those with three leaves- this girl who loved a good story, spent hours of each day in grief tossing clovers, weaving seed, flowers tangled in her hair... No moral to the story of this little girl in search of luck unless you look beneath the dust of that woman in the mud written off: "insanity" as you feed those turtle doves park-benched by inanity searching all your life for love. So eat your salad sandwiches with that slice of turkey breast, confusing all that was with "is" and take the pill that helps you rest. Tell the doctor, "It is stress." (Be sure to tell your wife much less.) And tell the woman in the park-- nothing. Find another bench. Forget the tangles in her hair... Wake! And say she wasn't there. |
