Hexadecimal Flux with Binary compunction
Klover

As my feet touched the cold plastic floor I awoke.
A small gasp soon followed, as I saw what I tell ye.
Something stranger then imps or goblins,
But so much more ghastly and horrifying.

A man was being operated on, the surgery most peculiar.
His legs and arms were removed, like an old decaying statue
But metal limps took their place, inserting with a click
His eyes were plucked with inhuman precision,
And replaced with fake optical receptors

But the strangest part it seems to me,
Is when they removed his heart,
With a bloody wrench, it was free
And a battery coldly filled its place.
A small gasp from his Cemeric lungs,
As life breathed in, and soul let out.

He stood and moved along,
Acting as if nothing had happened.
A small man with a pen and pad,
Checked a name and called out another.
My ears were deaf from shock and fear,
So I did not know whom they bid.
But as electric bonds wrapped around me,
And soon I knew, that I, was next.
Which spurred me into reality.

I gasped as I sat up
My bed cold from sweat.
A shake of my head and down it went
As I forsaked reality again.

To whom, bears this message, I plead you bid
Bid your heart to come alive.
In our age of whirrs and clicks,
I ask you to be human.
While my dream is truly fetched,
We forget that time marches against us.
And fate may come with welds and iron
For your tiny beating heart.

Who said there was no 'seriously intelligent life' (capable of significant and pithy 'writes') in New Jersey?!...

MUCH applause for yet another penning from this author!

Whoa!  Most original

and horrifying.

I'll just follow your lead
and follow my heart.
