And we saw the stars shining, while waiting
just waiting for rescue to come
all alone in a boat, so adrift on the sea
our eyes filled with dreaming of home.

And somehow that told us that rescue
would not come too soon, nor too late
we looked up to the stars in their heavens
and echoed their light for our fate.

As beacons they shone through the darkness
giving comfort and hope and much more
but we couldn’t foretell from their brightness
all that fate carried still in its store.

And the seas swelled up wicked and violent
they tried then to take us to doom
but the stars shone above from the heavens
and so we were not filled with gloom.

And the hope that we carried inside us
was like all the stars up above
for they promised a hope of a future;
we accepted it gladly with love.

So we rode on the crest of those waves walls
and our boat became battered and thin
but still we had sung away darkness
and the waves couldn’t quench hope within.

And still in the heavens, down on us
the stars gave their light constantly
the dawn tried to claim the horizon
and all that we saw was grey sea.

And the nighttime had ridden to morning
the stars had provided the way.
Then we saw a faint beacon, a rescue
and waved as we danced round in play.

Then the boat toppled each of us outwards
and we felt that we surely would drown
in the sight of our hope and our rescue
in the sun, for the moon had gone down.

But the stars must have been working for us
with the prayer that we took from the sky
and soon we were warm safe and rescued
It was then that we started to cry.

And still on the nights that are cloudless
when he stars from the land shine on me
I remember the night on the ocean
and recall how they gave victory.

this sentence holds absolute beauty, dear Kethry, something to hang on the wall for future reference, when trust is needed.

The whole poem was a joy to read, from the beginning till the happy end.

Glad you found the inspiration to create this and share it for us to enjoy.

Love,
Margherita

Kethry~
You took a recent news event and created such a positive piece out of it~

The blessing was in His keep of those onboard the ship~
He was truly with them and with those who searched diligently for them~
Returned safely to land~

Faith is a powerful thing~

Is this poem in reference to the sinking of the ship heading for Antarctica?

Beautifully scribed! The whole scenario was amazing!

Love & Star Light,
Linda

I think of The Titanic and all of the
lost souls from past wars...

Beautifully written Kethry.

This is, in fact, quite lovely.  I have spent a lot of time looking up at stars.  I like to think they have spent as much time looking down on me.
