A Thanksgiving Feast
by Linda L. Dowd

Cranberries, stuffing,
pumpkin pie.
Turkey, trimmings,
piled real high.

Mashed potatoes,
gravy too.
Green beans almondine,
and turnip stew.

Fresh from the oven,
warm dinner rolls.
Dripping butter~
food for souls.

White meat, dark meat,
drumstick, wing.
I like to sample
everything!

Olives, pickles~
tart and sweet.
Spiced ringed apples
are good to eat!

Plump black olives,
and pickles galore.
Deviled eggs
and so much more!

Family gathering,
to rejoice and pray.
Sharing feast on
Thanksgiving Day!

Thanksgiving Dinner

Hi, Susan!

~ and a "Happy Turkey" Day to you, too!

Mind you, here in Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving in October. I vicariously get to enjoy the spirit of thanks giving, a second time around, through yours! ~ but minus the feasting! ~ sad, pouty face here. lol

What a simply DELICIOUS 'write!'

[The "Native" (true) Americans might, of course, be
quick to point out that the 'Thanksgiving story' is
  MAJOR white mythology!...European colonists actually
"carved" a 'new way of life' out of the so-called
"Indians" rather than just the turkeys!]

Thanks, Linda!

I loved it, even if I did gain two pounds just reading it

I'm glad I read this AFTER dinner, not before!
I have many things to be thankful for, but 'tis true, the origins of this day we perpetuate in the USA is mostly myth, and there are no  reasons for Native Americans to celebrate the demise of their wonderful cultures.
Still, most cultures 'round the globe celebrate some type of harvest bounty celebration, and this is how I view this day.
So, Happy Harvest Day to you!

You would have been most welcome to join our family for Thanksgiving in October! ~when we, in Canada, celebrate Thanksgiving Day.
Perhaps I could join you in a luau, some day!

Hi, Bruce! I totally concur with what you wrote. Perhaps if you were to check out my recent post "Tribal Song", you would realize just how much I truly do concur with your comments.

I am pleased you found the dinner, er, my writing ~ "DELICIOUS"! I made it ~ and wrote it! ~ all by myself ~ with some divine help!

Midnitesun ~

Happy Harvest Day to you, as well!

As I mentioned in my reply to Bruce, I am of the same mind as you and he. That is one of the reasons I recently posted "Tribal Song".
I don't usually refer people to my poems, but I think that you will appreciate the message inherent within it.

Lindsay, it would be an honour to have you sit at our family table for Thanksgiving dinner!

But you will have to wait until next October when we, in Canada, will be celebrating Thanksgiving! Hey, what about Christmas?!?

Love to you, Aussie Man

Linda
PS ~ I am thoroughly enjoying reading your book! Getting to know you ~ and Australia ~ is to love you both!

And know the best part, Linda?

The best part is people like you ...
and, and ..

And LEFTOVERS!

(Yummy turkey sandwich with dressing and cranberry jelly and mayo and some olives and ... too thick to bite .. oh, and the Alka Seltzer.  Must not forget that.)

Love you, darlin'.

Aziza ~

Alison, you just mentioned one of my weaknesses! I love turkey dinner left-overs! ~ especially turkey sandwiches with dressing and cranberries! ~ or with mayo when the dressing and cramberries run out!

Gosh! This is torture! All this feasting going on down there is making me HUNGRY! I had a soy hotdog with onions and tomatoes. ~ Actually, it was pretty tasty ~ but I want some REAL food! lol

Happy TD Day and may the blessings continue throughout the year!

I like a deer with a healthy appetite! ~ Aren't you 'thankful' that you are not a turkey! Mind you, I would wager that Toe Jam would beg to differ! lol

You eat SPAM?!? Where were you when my computer was infested with it?!?
