Just a Dream

Call it ambition, a dream, or what you will
When first a desire is fully instilled,
It may be a sport, or art, or poetry
It may be a camera, capturing "Oh, Look, See!"

It comes to my mind, I’m a lot like you
To own a desire, to follow it through
Not to show off, but merely to share
To leave some semblance of concern and care

To cast a shadow at dawn’s first sight
Then gather vestiges by soft twilight
To mix colors and moods as if by song
To leave behind senses of "See? We belonged."

It’s just a dream, some quiet thoughts
Hardly a talent, but it's all we’ve got
So we contemplate on a picture or two
Then wrap it in poetry, just for you

For I would give you a dream to live
In softest light, where shadows forgive
Where all things possible may be found
And come together, on a common ground

It’s just a little dream that I would share with you
A little bit of art, and some poetry, too…

well done dearest KJ....and what might be

Dream a little dream with me

Poet, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

The photograph is stunning!  I had wondered where you had gotten it, and then I read it was one of yours!  Simply stunning!  I enjoyed the exquisite writing and kind thoughts it brought!  Thank you, Karilea!

I had decided before I read it that I would place the breath-taking picture in my library.  (I thought the still life would be fun to draw/paint.)   My decision became even more emphatic to save it after I read your poem so eloquently rendered!

Misc'e, you first. The photo was taken several years ago before digital cameras were available to the likes of me. So, this is a scanned photo of something I took in Modesto, California, probably circa 1986.

The vase is mine; the flowers, mine...and yes, Magnus, the wine glass...mine. Except the wine was too warm, hence the floating ice cubes.

'Loper, what can I say? I still dream dreams...and they seem to be getting even more intense with age. I like when the weekends come around, and I can fall back into them; they become even more interesting...and much more memorable...

James...I have to remind myself that if you read a poem and comment...that the very action of such is a great reward...thank you!

and Misc'e...if you DO do a watercolor of this particular photo...I would love to have a copy. I had a friend who did for me two watercolor paintings...from the smallest artwork I showed her...and I love them. They are now well over 20 years old...and their color, misted with fog as they are, as just as sharp as they were the day she brought them in to me.

Thank you all for your comments. I haven't been able to write in a while...it was good to post something old, slightly revised.

Dear Sissie......Oh how I like the thought that shadows forgive.  I realize that it is true in so many ways.  You, your poem and the photo are beatuiful, you know...especially in bright sunshine.
