Kneeling Beside An Empty Bed
By: Noah Eaton

.
.
.
.
.
She’s kneeling beside an empty bed…
.
.
.
…where a million of her tears have been shed…
.
.
.
…gravity feels like a friend who betrayed her…
.
.
.
…she can barely breathe when her world’s a blur.
.
.
.
.
.
Wondering how could it be him…
.
.
.
…happening to one of her own kids…
.
.
.
…she wishes it were a dream,
but she wakes,
finding…
.
.
.
…herself waking in his own bed…
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
She’s kneeling beside an empty bed…
.
.
.
…where a million of her tears have been shed…
.
.
.
…she leaves a hinge latched on the back gate…
.
.
.
…blindly hoping he’ll come home and clean his plate.
.
.
.
.
.
Spending her days sitting in her chair…
.
.
.
…holding a cloth doll with loving care…
.
.
.
…praying to God,
to spare his eighteen-year old,
child…
.
.
.
...but finding him gone,
waking in his own bed…
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
But wouldn’t some soldiers survive whole,
even when death accommodates them?
.
.
Wouldn’t some soldiers survive whole,
even when death accommodates them?
.
.
Wouldn’t some soldiers survive whole,
even when death accommodates them?
.
.
Wouldn’t some soldiers survive whole,
even when death accommodates them,
accommodates them?
.
.
.
.
.
Then when you wake you swear you saw his eyes…
.
.
.
…only to endure a more painful goodbye…
.
.
.
…when she wakes,
finding…
.
.
.
…herself waking in his own bed…
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
…she’s kneeling beside an empty bed…
.
.
.
…where a million of her tears have been shed…
.
.
.

Tears and prayers for your cousin Jeremy ~ and for all those who have lost their lives in the line of duty to their country.

Noah, this aches ~ as does my heart.

Eternal Love and Light for those who have fallen and for those who grieve their loss.

Love, Harmony, & World Peace,

Linda

The pain is so intensely rendered, dear Noah, that I have to add my own tears to those of this Mother.

Your voice is heard here, may it be heard by those who should change things.

Love and hugs.

Noah, I am remembering your cousin today and the sacrifice he made for us all.  I hope your Aunt finds some peace.  My thoughts are with you.   ....jo
