Slipping Away
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

Hold me close, lest I slip thru’ the hands of time
and into the nothingness that now beckons me.
The pull is strong ~ stronger than the ocean tides
~ far stronger than mine tenuous grip on reality.
I fear that I shall  simply disappear
and that I mightst be . . . no more.
Mine essence is slipping away and I know not how
to staunch its sanguine flow.

Hold me in thy strong embrace, for one more time,
lest I vanish into a past that must not ever have been.
~ or ‘twas, perhaps, of mine own fanciful making.

.

Love is the unifying force which integrates
one’s soul with that of another.
~ Linda L. Dowd

Angelo, no, I don't want you to slip away!!
This is really very powerful and I felt almost this strong pull too ...
In His embrace you are always safe. And your own wings will spread wide again and make you feel Love's energy that keeps you centered and aligned to divine perfection, in every moment.

(((((Linda)))))
Powerfully involving write.
Love and hugs.

You write with so much emotion, so that I feel every line...every word.

So powerful.  So sad.  Don't let go!

Margherita ~

At times I dip my pen into the inkwell that holds past emotions. Upon expressing them, such as I have done with the writing of this poem, I find it somewhat of a catharsis ~ an emotional house-cleaning, if you will.

Fear not, my caring, compassionate friend! My proverbial wings are still aloft! ~ In spite of the turbulent winds that often blow my way!

Robert ~

I suppose that the reason that you felt "every line...every word." is due to the fact  that I have lived and felt "every line...every word." and was blessed with the ability to convey my feelings ~ be they past, or present.

Thank you for the very nice reply.

Loving hug,
Linda

Linda, I feel this one as if you were in my head...that unreal feeling that all is just a dream, as if we'd never been.  I suspect, though, that the ethers are only ethers from this side and very substantial from the other.

After my daughter had brain surgery for a burst aneurysm some years ago, she would grasp one of the nurses by the hand, and ask her, "Are you my angel?"  And she would tell me she wanted to go home.  I knew she was not talking about a physical address, but to her, at that moment, home was more real than anything here.

What touches my heart in your poem is not the dream, but the love.  As in heaven, so on earth...

Arms around you always, Dear Heart! ~ Karen

Bunches of Honey ~

Oh, you are such a sweet and tender-hearted soul.

I almost felt like crying when I read what I had written. Those were very difficult times.
However, I got through them and I am so thankful that I am no longer in that place.

Emotions such as the ones expressed in this poem, can be pushed down and buried deeply within. Then suddenly, without warning, something will trigger them and they come bubbling back up to the surface.

Love to you!

"Linda, I feel this one as if you were in my head...that unreal feeling that all is just a dream, as if we'd never been."

~ You are very kind and empathic and can feel what others feel.

How terrifying it must have been for all of you when you almost lost your daughter.

Blessings of love & joy,

Linda

Hello, Margie Girl! Yeppers, we poets have warehouses chock full of emotions and experiences from which to draw! The more we live ~ the more we have to write about! Some of it is gloriously happy, some of it can be despairingly sad. ~ and then there is all the 'schtuff' in between!

Lovely Lee ~

I am honoured that you graced my poem with your presence ~ especially at this time when you are grieving the loss of your mother. Your poem "Kathryn" was especially moving.

With lots of love and comfort hugs,

Linda Lou, me thinks your slipping away days are in the past as you are our "Earth" Angel and now firmly planted here on terra firma.  Takes a lot of hard work to walk the Earth with that heavenly spirit, but to our great pleasure, you have accomplished it!  Very interesting match with the picture and the words btw.  KBHBLY always..........lily jo

I'm so glad that my slipping away from here for a while didn't make me miss this!

Your words carry the power that comes from knowing... I am glad you're no longer in this place, but you write it perfectly... giving such elegance to the desperation.

I have to tell you, I had a feeling when I was writing this poem, that if you ever happened to read it, that it would connect with you ~ or vice versa! lol

You proved me write! ~ I mean "right"!

The feelings and emotions in my poem are felt by most of us at one time or another in our life, however, you have written some of the best poems of this kind and I am pleased that you find mine worthy of saving.

Love you!
