To Be Cast

And the rains come,
finally, to wash away
some of the grime of life.
Listening to the uneven tapping
on the windows, as the breeze joins in
to help silence the noise of memory.

A meaningful tune hides somewhere
beneath the weight of the past.
"The death of innocence" a reality
waiting for the next life  to be cast.

I hear those songs
too often,
while the ride to wherever
takes me to the next moment.
Listening, the uneven drops trace the cheeks
before evaporating into silence.

While...
A meaningful tune hides somewhere,
beneath the weight of the past.
"The death of innocence" a reality
waiting for the next life  to be cast.

Obviously a very personal, 'real' and
effectively emotive 'write!'

I am especially fond of:

"A meaningful tune hides somewhere,
beneath the weight of the past.
"The death of innocence" a reality
waiting for the next life  to be cast(!)"

AND:

about the rain...

"Listening to the uneven tapping
on the windows, as the breeze joins in
to help silence the noise of memory."

v. serious and sustained applause!!

Very beautifully written, dear Maureen. You touch the heart.
When we consider that our cells renew continuously, we should allow also the "weight of memories" to lessen its pressure upon our hearts and minds. We would be able to breathe more easily and to face a new life, unburdened, now.

I know it is not easy. Just a thought.

Love and hugs.

You just get better and better and better and ....  well, you know ....

Poet, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.
