“Getting into Heaven is no big trick: all you have to do is accept the gift of God in Jesus Christ– How you live your life beyond that is purely secondary, a matter of choice.” Well, that’s what I was told one day by an old man with a Bible. So, I thought, I can be an ignorant S.O.B. most of my life (even if I know better) and with “God’s gift” in my heart when I die I am heaven bound! (Who would turn down such a deal?) On the other hand, I can live my life impeccably, be kind and generous and caring, but if I refuse “God’s gift” that’s just too bad ‘cause when I die it’s straight to hell - do not pass “Go” and do not collect the $200 either! There you have it: these are the rules. It’s how you play the Fun Da Mental Monopoly game in Christianity. Believe it! Amen brother. |

Your thoughts brought these thoughts to me, a scripture found in Romans 3:23. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." So even if you live your life impeccably, which would be without defect or error, and which seems like a wonderful goal, you could still believe in Jesus, the son of God who died for all of our sins...James |

I love this poem, It makes so much sense. I see it was about as popular as my " Under the Banner of Heaven" but I know where you're coming from and I'll take my chances with "the good life" Ida |

I am of the opinion that what counts is Love, truly God's gift ... Jesus' message was this. We do create our own heaven and "hell", mostly with our thoughts. The Church sometimes renders things complicated. When we learn how to love, we remain on the track and always find back to it, even when life's challenges sometimes misguide us. Thank you for the thought provoking words. Love, Margherita |

I do believe that you wrote this tongue-in-cheek, so to speak. Wherever the place that you were actually writing this from, I was fascinated ~ and intrigued ~ by what I read. One of the measures, in my mind, of the merit of a write, is the thought that has gone into the readers' replies. I enjoyed each of the above responses ~ and would like to echo each of them! ![]() To paraphrase what Ida wrote, I'll take my chances on the Lighted Path! lol Love & God's Light ![]() EA ![]() |
