"But he grew old, this knight so bold And o`er his heart a shadow." (Edgar Allan Poe) All my life I`ve lived As if in a Dream Petty strife For things that seemed to gleam. From morn `till Night I`ve walked like a Ghost Putting a fight Of pretension at most. Never surrendering To Delight Or Horror I was left Wondering The meaning of All this Pondering. `Till one night a lost fly Guided to me by wind perhaps Flew in From The window as open, it Lie And the sight of a sudden guest, left me Aghast. The Form this insect took In my view Was one of magnitude And struck me, down to my Sinew. Thus it Spake, This creature Of Lordly Mien "Thy Soul I Be forced to take For Thee hast Not Yet Seen." "Seen what!" I cried All but Beside My Self "What Needst Thou From me?" I tried At this my guest Perched on my Book-Shelf. "You have searched But searched in vain Thus have I perched Into Thy Lair." Here I woke, startled. Brushed of a fly, Shouted "Go!" Out of bed, tired, I darted And continued my Guest for Eldorado. |
