Just give me a reason
to keep my lungs breathing,
it's so so easy now just to let go;
give me a reason for all of this waiting
centuries of moments for what I already know.

I'm tired of hearing about world's of wonders,
just give me a reason
I've got time to ponder,
when I'm wandering out here
I leave pain on the pillow
by the organic old shell;
so give me a reason,
once my soul has found freedom,
to choose to go back
to where living is hell.

Just give me something
with grit to hold onto,
something to grab as I slide past the edge,
give me more than this nothing
more than the drugs they've put in me
that just cut me loose and then I go drifting,
I just need something
to try to hold onto
while I tell Zorba what he can do
with his rope;
I don't need to let go
when I'm already free,
so give me some of the gold
that life now is lacking
some of the treasure
we all should hold.

I'm going down empty,
with hands that held princesses
with ladies in waiting
flashing glistening desire,
held as easily as bottled up lightning
my other best tools always for hire,
hands that held lovers
now I can't remember,
now not even clutching
at straws in the wind.

Sorry I have been away so long, Mr. C. and I just popped in based on a hunch I might find you writing.  Now, that is a reason!  I do understand the depth of your argument here.  It would be cool if we could all graduate, and perhaps you will this time...but in the meantime, please keep leaving your trail of bread crumbs, my friend.   ....jo

Ice, hang in if you can, you have so much in you to share and tell. A story here, a few lines there convinces  me that you have more to tell. We are all here waiting. Not every thing you write is responded to by me, as time is short here, but every thing you write is read and is appreciated. love to you, "late"

Powerful impressions, dear icebox! When we are in pain life is hell, you are right and our only wish is to feel fine. If we were given the opportunity to decide ourselves the moment of our transition (not intending suicide!), we would risk to decide upon a single moment's despair and how much would we miss? And how much love would be wasted? You still are able to love, your poetry is a gift to many, so hold on. I'm grateful for you to be here.
Even princesses wither away in time ... but your soul shines bright at all times. May no bitterness touch you, may you find a reason to smile today.
Love and warm hugs.

~ Your spirit and body sound tired after a lifetime of living. Perhaps pondering the past good times will help see you through the present difficult ones. I do believe that memories can provide us with much-needed warmth when we are going through an 'icy' spell.

May you find physical comfort and peace of mind.

Wishing you well and sending you a loving, healing hug,

EA

"it's so so easy now just to let go;"

I can understand the feeling so very well but life is still precious and we owe it to ourselves to hold on.  I wish for better days for you - I most surely do because your poetry gives so much to so many and haven't we all lost so much already?

Dear icebox

"Just give me a reason
to keep my lungs breathing,"

I'm sorry that you are feeling so much pain and it's selfish of me to ask, but stick around for awhile more, for me.

I don't have the answer for you.

But somebody told me once that life wasn't a question.

That might not making going down any easier, but it's certainly easier to swallow when you don't have to make it make sense. ?

Love you hon! *laughing*

Dear Box of Ice, I couldn't stop thinking of you and had to pop back in and tell you what works with me when I have slipped from the acme to the nadir.

~ I once caught a glimpse in the mirror of my forlorn and weary-looking physiognomy when I was at death's door, and it was quite a sight to behold. I had sad, lackluster, droopy eyes with circles under them and my smile was upside down. I suppose that should have made me feel ever worse ~ but the opposite thing happened! I cracked up laughing! What a sight for sore eyes, I was! That wasn't me in the mirror! So, I turned my smile right-side up, painted my face ~ and voila! I felt better! ~ I was still dying, but at least I didn't look like it! ~ and surprise, surprise! I survived my ordeal even though the doctors didn't think that I would! Now, whenever I slip into that mode again (Gosh, Earth life can be so difficult at times!), I look in the mirror and put my happy face back on ~ and strangely enough, things really do get better!

Giving you an extra big, loving, comforting, healing hug,

Linda

Yet here you are . . .

Why?

Write about that.

"I'm going down empty"
No, my friend...
for you've filled us with many words and thoughts to cherish and ponder. Even in this tiny seemingly insignificant corner of sweet Gaia, you are a lustrous gem.
I am thinking healing thoughts for you.
