Once I thought that I could write,
an ode as pretty as the night,
the first verse calm as vespertine,
of night and day in intertwine
before night gains the upper hand
and shadows dance across the land.
then to pen of Luna's rise,
of Venus as she ope's her eyes
and gazes down on earth below,
ensconcing all in radiant glow,
crescendoing to midnight's hour,
when man and beast in darkness cower
beneath Orion and his minions,
standing guard of night's dominions,
whil'st all the while the muses seven
in beauty sing, notes fall from heaven,
unto the earth, night's symphonies,
upon the wings of evening's breeze.
but alas, my pen was dry,
as I gazed unto night's sky,
for of the splendor of the night,
mortal words are but a slight,
aye, mortal words are but a slight,
for the splendor of the night.

The only wrong within this write, sir,
is that most don't gaze into the night;
they hold fast onto some light,
and wrong they are not into some dream
pass into some winsome gleam;
such as your own vespertine ~

but such as you and I might glimpse such dream
and hang by hand onto such stream
as liquid as the night time skies
and stream a dream upon such sighs
that liquid light becomes us so;

then light would dream us, as its glow...

a splendor then, the two of us...
as outside our light, reality is thus...

yes, my dear, I will dim the light,
and come to you, this very night.

~*~

thank you...it has been a while since I've been so inspired!

Tim, your pen, most assuredly, is filled with ink of the finest indigo. ~ May it never go "dry".
