As swallow's wing alights a meadow blush - So softly treads her image in my mind; The path so trodden stirs to quickened rush A heart that swirls and beckons one in kind - Oh love, be not unkind - let your fire Freely rage within my veins, and release The yearning that holds passion and desire In, and doing so, do my heart appease. But the mind in deception does delight; It feeds on painted charms and holds in spell Illusion thus retained - until the night Retreats and leaves behind an empty shell: So phantom is what real thus may seem, Her vision but a vapour of a dream.
