Sweet Prince

Now, upon a time, princesses wander the stony paths
along streams. They wend through cattails,
waiting near ponds, always in waiting.
From above, there are hordes of them –
fair maidens all, tresses and dresses flowing,
adrift in thought, a singular chant:

oh where or where has my prince gone?

Gone, my fair maiden, the way of princes
and frogs.

"Wend." Now there's a lovely word. I can't remember when last I've seen or heard it used.

Nicely done, Corinne.

Absolutely delightful, with a tiny touch of soft sweet melancholy.

Love,

Arctic Wind - thank you kindly!

Bob, good to see you again (and thank you)!

Margherita, thanks lady!

Been working on a revised draft (is that allowed here?)

----------------------------------

revised

Now, upon this time,
princesses wander,
trailing stony pathways
along streams.
With one ear, they listen.
They part reeds with slender fingers
dripping, ladies wading in silent ponds
while cattails snow;
a million lost daughters,
tresses and dresses flowing.

Where are the greensongs
of princes?

Gone, my fair maidens,
the way of frogs and kisses.

without the kisses, does the Prince return to the frog...
Yes without such a sweet princess

Thank God for Parker...

I believe someone stole this very
story....

but that is how poetry is written,
and revised, resized, regiven.

Hugging you, my beautiful friend
who bears no resemblance to anyone
but a goddess.
