Not So Young Anymore

I’m not so young anymore . . .
Who said that?
Certainly not me!
Not me whose years have passed too fast;
not me, I can’t even keep up with yesterday,
so how would I remember years enough
to say I’m not so young anymore.
I know that time has passed,
the mirror tells me so,
and all those aches that have no cause,
eyes that cannot see beyond my nose,
and hair – ha! – hair that isn’t there,
but gray from roots that don’t make color, anymore.
Old? Not me!
But like whoever said –
Not So Young Anymore.
There, I’ve said it too. . .
and yet, that really wasn't said by me,
because I'm not so old today, even if . . .
I'm not so young anymore.

Susan is right...Our brains have a lot to do
with how old or young we feel....And, there
are some days that are just tougher than
others....

You made me smile!!! As I am not feeling so young after weeding all day. What use to take me a few hours now takes me a whole day.

I enjoyed this very much. I completely agree with the notion that just the passing years cannot qualify you as old.
