Was not once the hourglass filled, in wait the sift of restless souls. Standing still amongst the barren willows that once danced the shimmering water’s edge. Yes, once upon a hurried though hesitant millennia, dark chilling eyes scoured the distance for a wayward stranger, one never once afraid of the dark, for night was his day...and slumber was his calling. And, often the whispers fell softly on worn weathered ears...bringing forth a soft smile as the winter of life escaped into the frosted eve. For, though he oft walked silently upon the graveled drive of yesterday’s place of rest, he stood, listening intently, far into the darkened stillness of death’s soup, blending ever easily into the wandering mists of evermore.... |

Interesting ‘write’! I am especially fond of imagery such as: “barren willows…once danced the shimmering water’s edge”; “the winter of life escaped into the frosted eve”; “blending ever easily into the wandering mists of evermore” Applause! |

Nice imagery, Barry. It feels as if it's the beginning chapter of a very interesting tale. |

"Was not once the hourglass filled, in wait the sift of restless souls. Standing still amongst the barren willows that once danced the shimmering water’s edge." Great read. This verse is excellent. JL ![]() Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor. |
