She was just a little, orange kitten, One of so many throw-aways. Scruffy, dirty and flea-bitten, Her fate that of most other strays. When she showed up at Payne school, I tried not to notice her. I said to myself, "Don't be a fool And fall for another "purr." Although I already had pets of my own, And sure didn't need anymore, I ended up taking her home. Why?...I wasn't quite sure. She wasn't all that pretty, In fact, she was rather plain But I took her out of pity And gave her a fancy name. After a bath and a trip to the vet Some needed attention and TLC, She was really quite impressive and yet There were more surprises in store for me. It didn't take me long to realize She had great charm and personality. Hidden behind those knowing eyes Is a unique and clever entity. I have had Soleil for about ten years now. She first surprised me by using the toilet (all on her own) and she's been full of surprises ever since. |

A beautiful name you gave her and she lives up to this choice, I see! A sweet and lovely tribute to your pet. I adore cats and I have one now who is a true sunshine too. Love, Margherita |

I have 6 cats, all rescued from some dire circumstance or another. |

A wonderful read! I love cats, and am happy the Soleil (the sun) found such a loving owner! |
