Here we sit in our literary pomposity Words our tools for feelings to convey Secretly smug knowing without words No one will know what we wanted say But there was one, a master tis true, Who knew how to touch a chord Without words his expressions were Mightier than even the pen or sword Slowly a smile expressed his love A frown more sadness than he could show Without words we bow in reverence for A final goodbye to Marcel Marceau **************** Without words – he was a master mime – without words. ****************** Marcel Marceau passed away Saturday – according to the Associated Press: Born March 22, 1923, he worked in the French Resistance during World War II to protect Jewish children from the Nazi regime. His father, a butcher in a small town in France was sent to Auschwitz, where he died. Marceau studied drama and perfected his craft. “Do not the most moving moments of our lives find us without words?” he once asked. |

Indeed...he studied his craft... and sometimes, less is more, and then there was Marceau. Thank you, Sharon. |

As my father used to say, find something that you love and be the best at it. Marcel Marceau definitely was a man who did just that. "Slowly a smile expressed his love A frown more sadness than he could show Without words we bow in reverence for A final goodbye to Marcel Marceau" God speed! This was a touching tribute, deVine One. And I also appreciated learning more about his life. Love, Light, & Eternal Life, EA |

Poet de Vine, What a lovely tribute! I saw Marcel Marceau perform some twenty years ago. Now I'm glad I did. Thank you for this, Corinne |

I find it increasingly sad that I now find myself in the era where some of our greatest entertainers are leaving us. Marcel Marceau was imitated by so many, including me, but never equaled or copied. He was however, an inspiration to so many and always will be. Your poem did justice to his memory Sharon, and I thought I would tell you that even before he died, every time, (which is not often) I was silent, I thought of his words, and how hey would interpret the situation, and always will. It makes me laugh every time. |
