     GOD'S TEMPLE

Regal pines soared skyward
Like a great cathedrals spires.
Shafts of iridescent light
Struck the ground with holy fire,
Illuminating the forest floor
Where lacy ferns and mosses grew,
With brilliant greens of every hue.
Transforming violets into purple jewels,
Strewn about my feet
And water into liquid gold
When light danced on the creek.
Alone in this most sacred realm,
I knew
That what I had always felt was true,
A truth my heart has come to understand...
God does not dwell in temples made by man.

"God does not dwell in temples made by man"

I have been baptized in three different Churches ~ Anglican, Evangelical, and Catholic. I am now walking the Spiritual Path and I feel so much closer to God when I am in a forest, than when I am in a church.

Your poem is divinely beautiful.

Ida~
I believe that He built his temple on nature's path ... I find the Spirit of Him surrounding me as I traipse the meadow~

Lovely sweet poetess~

I wondered how you had developed the theme ... and I am glad I found this, dear Ida. It is a gem.

But I would like to say that I feel God's presence EVERYWHERE, it is a question of PERCEIVING HIS ESSENCE, which IS in ALL THINGS. Thus, also in temples made by men, even though we may have a stronger perceptivity of HIM in Nature, most certainly.
And above all, HE RESIDES WITHIN US, may we grow in this wonderful awareness.

Thank you dear Ida for your inspiring words.

Love,
Margherita

Acts17:24
God that made the world, and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands.

Ida, my feelings exactly! I was raised and baptized in three different Churches and I have often said that I feel God's presence more in His cathedral forests than I do in cathedrals made by man!

An exquisitely penned spiritual poem ~ and a

Interesting...when Paul spoke to the Corinthians as in 1 Corinthians 6 he said that "your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit" and in 2 Corinthians 6 he said "For you are the temple of the living God."....James

YES!
I totally agree....if there be such a being as "God" he surely must prefer being in the woods over the inside of any building.
