When Once I Could Write ..I Cherish (r/p) |

I Cherish I medicate myself in thought and walk the path, my history. The grounds of which I planted seed, each imprint mine, artistically. Sometimes imprisoned, segments lost, I feel the end of consciousness. Until I rise in wealth of self, a process slowly to address the needs of one, of only me, as eyes take view of all before; the rose e'er lasting, shaded pink, the black-eyed daisies, I adore, the arbor, over/under spread with petals opened wide, so pale. Soaking in the warmth of day walking through the latticed veil, I wander 'round, pass by the pond reflecting thoughts in face I see, the ripples when I feed the fish, as they return in greet of me. The weeping willow newly raised, bending as the breezes blow in fragileness, will slowly change as strength regains, in next years grow. I feed my mind on natures gifts and settle on the swing of thoughts, suspending judgement of my life revering all my eyes have caught. No tears to sting, no frowns to face when mirrored in the glass of time. Today, I cherish with respect the path I walk, these thoughts in rhyme. M Once written for Interloper ( 2001) "Love is not blind - It sees more and not less, but because it sees more, it is willing to see less." (Will Moss) |

Absolutely beautiful. I don't usually like multiple photos with poetry, feeling they detract from the words which could/should speak for themselves. But it is a pleasure to see your wonderful landscaping. |

I very strongly believe a poem (especially one as fine as this 'write'!) should stand on its own merit (without multiple photo.; graphics; or audio accompaniment) but, these images are lovely. v. serious, sustained applause for the poetry! |

I remember this Maureen...and your beautiful veranda complete with swing. What a lovely old home..and you know already how I feel about older homes, verandas and gardens. This time I am placing it gently into my library. Somehow it calms me so much to read this particular piece. Heart hugs and thank you for the email, Nancy ~ Trace my body with your words, |

What a fantastic yard you have! ~ and I'd adore having a veranda with a porch swing like that! I can picture you pensively swinging away, developing a poem in your pretty poetess head! Lovely post! Maureen, I love this as you plant as I do. I try to keep it natural not boxed and fenced or too controlled. I like the freshness of your porch swing and wish I were there to sit and sip a glass of lemonaid and chat. Be pleased with you and your many talents. You do make a difference in this world. best, "late" |

This is just lush and lovely and so..."you". and I'm sorry I'm late for the Garden party too...pout. But what a magnificent presentation, and worthy of a spread in House & Garden! I look at this, I read, and I smile: "I'm so lucky to know you." |

Thank you, everyone~~ I appreciate all your thoughts. I have been "busy" recuperating from an exhausting job, a "mistake" I made in taking it and haven't been able to be on line too much. I wrote this in 2001 but it still allows me to appreciate my surroundings. M |

Thanks again everyone...and yes Ed, this is where I live and this is a front view of my 1901 built home and sanctuary that I have lived in and renovated for the last 30 years~~ M as you can tell it needs a new roof again...which is in the process of being redone. |
