        Late-Summer Sunset
      (partings and passages)

With the last glimmering glimpse
of sunset cloud-orphans
dancing through an endless sky,
in the thunderous calm
just before twilight,
when even these hills
grieve the late Summer’s passing,
and this lake becomes a
   clear-bright mirror
of yesterday’s dreams
and tomorrow’s uncertainties,
we seek both human and Time’s
   forgiveness
for all that ‘should have been’,
and I remember your ‘final-
   parting’ thought:
“Follow only the Autumn wind,
  for it shall always ‘know’...
  so much more than we!”

This timeless write is so much more than the sum of all its words, Poet. The power and truth contained within, so beautifully expressed, brings tears when re-read.
