![]() The year was 1974, riding in the pinto, brown small car, Summer breeze blowing, as I held my hand, out the window, Radio was playing, with 8-track player, his music, his songs, I can still see the sun, reflecting through trees, as we drove in the country, ![]() To a little country store, he didn't know a stranger, funny, I am the same way, He laughed with everyone, loved to sing songs, taught me a few of them, I loved that little store, it was our religion, once every week, He would take me there, buy me a small coke, pop open the cap on the side of the cooler, ![]() Then I would get a 5 cent, chocolate football candy, some double bubble gum, with a smile on his face, and a tune on his lips, we got back into the car, driving home once more, crossing the bridge, pulling into the driveway, It was over, till next time, I looked forward to each trip, it was special, So was my grandfather, and they don't make them like that anymore..... Dedicated to my Grandfather William Jennings Waugh I love You And Miss You! |
