![]() The air inhales the tender pulsing of the birds. They leave the sky and carve the dirt, digging into the place where the sprinkler leaks. The steaming, invisible air has taken the lips from dew's child and is breathing upon an apple leaf. I can hear the brittle voice of the curled tree from the cleft of its shadow where the cat's listless tongue hangs loose. Time has ticked the water off, to keep it safe until the sun squeezes its last harvest and falls off the edge. [This message has been edited by Martie (09-03-2007 07:06 PM).] |

Indisputably the best poet in PiP. Heavens though, what's with the distracting centering? M |

James, JL and Moonbeam...thank you for your replies. I've left aligned the poem now, Moonbeam, I didn't realize that it was distracting, thanks for letting me know; and thank you for what you said, there are so many wonderful poets here, I am honored. ![]() |

What a way to end the summer... heat, in all its ravenous glory... and come winter, a solemn reminder that we asked for the cool.... ![]() |

Martie dear, this has to go back up. You are a true poet and one sorely missed when you're not here. |
