I sat on a lonely beach, watching the tide; The rolling surf echoed on cliffs white and wide. I watched the sand shift and in each tiny grain I saw, ever changing, life’s sorrow and pain. It was as if I were a grain of the sand; My destiny shaped by an almighty hand. And yet, among numbers so countless in view The ones who had touched me, though precious, were few. The darkness descended, and softly, in sighs The ocean was stilled by the heavenly skies As stars without number, arrayed and anointed With light incandescent were duly appointed. The glassy sea mirrored the skies at their ease, Their pastels conveyed on the night rolling breeze; A wave gently murmured, then, soft as a dove My spirit was filled with the light of your love. I felt your last kiss, yet ‘tis not touch alone That renders the softness of sand from a stone; Like lips on your bosom, reluctant to part, The surf touched the sand like my soul kissed your heart. I once was a fragment, a small grain of sand Surrounded by much I did not understand; But you, by your being, by all that you are; You took that small grain… and you made it a star! |

I thoroughly enjoyed it all, but found this so very cool... "It was as if I were a grain of the sand; My destiny shaped by an almighty hand. And yet, among numbers so countless in view The ones who had touched me, though precious, were few." how few, how precious, how true.... |
