I posted this poem on a couple of sites. I got feedback from someone asking me if I disliked Ray Charles. Well, I love Ray Chrles. I smile just thinking of his grin. So I think I'll explain the poem. Ray Charles went blind when he was about seven years old. The blindness might have been prevented with proper diagnosis. In spite of the bad break, he accomplished great things, especially in music. In the poem I imagine him reincarnated as someone deaf and blind. What would he do? With music gone he would turn to a tactile art. Perhaps he would become a potter who would mold his misfortunes (the turd) into a celebration of life (the chalice). Georrr-gia Georrr-gia Ray Charles is back -- deaf and blind this time saw him sitting at a potter's wheel molding a turd into a chalice MORE POEMS, PHOTOPOEMS, AND AUDIO VERSIONS AT http://anthonyarmstrong.multiply.com |
