It seems like only yesterday, I held him by the hand This evening he was married Now he is a man Yesterday, he left for school Kissed me...said goodbye Now I'm at his wedding Trying not to cry I picked him up from Little league Only yesterday, you see Now he's at the altar With his Bride on bended knee Yesterday, he rode a bike Today, he drives a car To see him stand there all grown up Seems a bit bizarre` Time has overtaken us Little did I know How soon he would be all grown up Now it's time to go "All my love, my children Now you're Man and wife God bless you both As you start your brand new life" I turn away to dry my tears I don't want him to see How sad I am he's all grown up And that he's leaving me "Goodbye my son" I whisper "I'm so proud of you" Yet in my heart he wil remain The little boy I knew |

This reminds me of a TV program in which “the other half” was complaining of their in-laws and how they married each other not the entire family…. It’s one of those unpredictable equations… ? sometimes letting go and remembering they have a whole new life…. Err and responsibilities… Choose a good care home …. Eric |

Beatrice, A tear jerker, but very beautiful! Although it may seem like a lost when a son leaves the home, I can imagine how he will strive to pass down the goodness he received at home. Can we ever share too much love? I enjoyed your poem very much, and am including your thread in my library. Thank you. |

Thanks Seymour...of course we'd like to keep them close to us as long as we can...but it's also a sense of great pride to see them grow into wonderful, caring, people who will start a whole new family to love. Bea |
