I tried to lay still and be part of the puzzle The way I knew I should I tried to fit there in the midst of my life The way they thought I would I tried to keep up the facade of a man— I wasn’t sure I could Anymore… The puzzle tried to embrace me But the pieces didn’t fit around me The man and I had different desires… I tried. I tried to be what society said I should be But I didn’t fit there I didn’t fit there… I stood up and looked around at the bed where I lay And I noticed the colors were all wrong I wondered why no one else had noticed… I left the puzzle I left behind the life I’d made For the man I didn’t really know I know I left them with a hole in the middle I know I left them with chafed edges and frayed memories But I didn’t fit— I tried! I just didn’t fit… --dgvarner 110306 |

NAKDTHOUGHTS~ Thanks for your reply! *************** I wrote this for someone I've never met; a married man, father of two... just trying to see things from his perspective; wondering how he perhaps felt as he found himself having to face the fact of his homosexuality... Some say homosexuality is a choice--I can't imagine anyone would CHOOSE to be ridiculed and labled an outcast, I believe it's something one is born with--the choice, only in how they choose to deal with the facts. hugs, g "...Never regret anything that made you smile..." |

You know, your writing interests me because you write from perspectives that are not you. Does that make sense? I like it. And I like your poetry a lot. Alison |
