Touching Time’s Leaves

Time was, it was only right
to know this, then that, then something more;
all sure, all circumspect;
all correctly formed, verbatim,
ergo
, with a mea culpa
now and then;

when life turned over, easy,
like a solemn page having found summer,
a leaf of some great sheaf
where stories were yet
to be told ~

and I wondered, was it my finger
that touched a page, was it my eyes
that took a long, hard look,
then closed a chapter,
when then, in some new, unfamiliar way
chose to start a new editorial, with
blank pages here, now,
before my eyes,
as if awaiting some muse
to restore all losses gained.

Funny thing was, and yes, funnier it is,
that I have willingly wandered
into this new library of life,
where it is not so dusty,
nor overwhelming,
where laughter is heard, even under
a shushing breath…

there is reason again,
beyond the chain of rope
to touch leaves, learn more,
breathe easy, and with some no
little glee,

rejoice.

~*~

A commemoration to life,
all new beginnings, and
for every poet’s special sigh.

Enjoyed this, Sunshine, and, oh, to breathe easy is something I long for but just can't seem to make happen.

Sunshine I so enjoyed this my friend, finding yourself in a different place and so enjoying being there.

I liked this line.

I have willingly wandered
into this new library of life,

Have a wonderful day my friend.

Karilea,
New beginnings are likely the best adventure of all. I am eager to know how it goes. And congratulations. Lovely write.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I am especially fond of:

“when life turned over, easy,
like a solemn page having found summer,
a leaf of some great sheaf
where stories were yet
to be told ~ ”

and:

“I have willingly wandered
into this new library of life,
where it is not so dusty,
nor overwhelming,
where laughter is heard”

Applause!!

And that laughter is reason enough for rejoicing! *S* Congratulations, dear lady... may you find fulfillment and happiness in this new endeavor... They're lucky to have you! *S*

Beautiful write!!!

This whole poem brought a smile to my face... Just as everyone said

"rejoice" there has never been such a perfect word...

I'm so pleased for you for your new job and your joy with it.

Some time ago in place quite far
A "Joyce" I met in dim-lit bar
I traveled on to other burg
Another Joyce became my urge
I pondered while our beers were hoisting
I guess you'd say I was "re-Joyceing."

Congrats!!  Ken

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

Sunshine,

This is nice.  However, it is two long sentences.  I'd think of breaking it up a little to make it easier to follow.

This  has a familiar feel to it
we are ever turning leaves and I myself embark on new beginnngs
I thought this flowed very smoothly
Well done
