CELTIC REMINISCE

Its spirit flies above the plains
Between the peaks and drenching rains
And all the passion still remains
To be so real and grand

The spirit glides with wings so wide
Amongst the scent of countryside
And rides upon the changing tide
While warm is still the hand

To touch the soul of faraway
So many miles from yesterday
But like a light it guides the way
Back to the Motherland

And there we see the ancient Celt
See and feel just how they felt
While frozen streams they slowly melt
I hear the bagpipes play

And melody is ever sweet
As jokers and the workers meet
In pubs, the friends upon their seat
Who share what was their day

And I in mood of reminisce
Do wonder of the things I miss
The Celtic way and warming kiss
Does send me on my way

To stand on shore of home once more
To share in time with those before
To find at end the open door
Where memories come to stay

And I can shout hello and bye
Wave my hand with cheer and cry
Greet those passed who never die
Till vision fades away

I really like reading your submissions, they are artistic and yet accessible. I hope I'm not out of line but one line threw me off, "I hear the bagpipes play".I felt this one line threw off the rhyming scheme.

RogueandPoet, so glad to get your reply my friend, I am trying different types of verse, in each verse here I have three rhyming lines and the forth different, it is a trial for me. I pictured a stream melting of ice and then hearing distant spirit bagpipes of they now gone.
You will find all the next verses, on the last line onward all rhyme. Thank you for your observation and letting me know, it is appreciated and a shared moment.

Take care and be well.

Rick

I like this a lot.  I kind of liked the bag pipe line .. it fit well for me, but I was listening to their haunting wail.

I loved the rhyming sequence of this poem and enjoy how you try other styles of poetry.  I am trying the same and sometimes -- it is hard.

Anyway, I look for your poems and hope all is well with you.  You are among my favorites here -- as a poet and a person.

Wonderful, it gave me such a happy and peaceful feeling.  I so enjoy reading your offerings, I am always left smiling.  Kudo's to you m'friend.

I normally don't like reading poetry that is of a set rhyming patter... this, however, is a very firm exception. This is the first of your thoughts that I have read.... yet, it definately will not be the last.

What would you attempt to do...if you knew you could not fail?.

I've been waiting for just the right poem to grab me before I posted a response to anything, and this is definitely that poem.

All of the ones of yours that I've read recently have been wonderful; the rhyme scheme, the rhythm, and especially the phrasing really drew me into what you were trying to convey.

Thank you for sharing,

AMdG
