We are a Team

I’m looking out a window
   watching miles trickle by
   my daughter’s curled up next to me
   napping on the ride

I find peace in her proximity
   while I trifle with these words
   miles to go upon this road –
   wheels spinning round each curve.

We’re off to some new destination
   where we know not what we’ll find
   and as we journey on together
   we hope the highway will be kind

Soon enough we’ll come to rest
   and she will wake up from her dreams
   and we’ll explore our new surroundings
   for she and I – We are a Team

It would be difficult to find the "Rogue" in this "Poet"!

Thanks all. My daughter is eleven and most of the time she dismisses my poetry as "too grownup". Still there will come a time I think.

my daughter once did that too but she's writing her own poetry now and it's pretty good I think

I feel the same about my daughter ... She's only 9, but it's me and her against the world *smiles* we're a heck of a team and it sounds like you and your daughter are as well. Lovingly heartwarming, this piece
