We both knew
it couldn’t last
no matter
how hard we tried…
we were not able
to beat the system
that kept us apart

So…

We both moved on…
And now I ask myself
how much time
do I need
to heal my heart
because
almost two years have passed
and still
I find myself
whispering your name
in the dark
of the night
while I dream your arms around me…

Sometimes sad situations provide us with an opportunity to grow and move on in ways we never could before. Placing pen to paper can truly help as you've done. Keep up the lovely writing. Very nice phrasing here ... much enjoyed.
