(Hey y'all! I am approaching the end of completing my finals for the current university term, and after that will have many new summer poems and sing-alongs coming your way, so here's a re-post to tide y'all over these next few days as I wrap the term up in earnest, yay!

I've been listening to a whole lot of Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman, Tiny Bubble Band, Les Baxter, Clouseaux...all kinds of exotique/polynesian music lately, coupled with lots of Japanese power pop, Europop and space-age sounds, so a lot of my next summer postings will have quite a balance of 50's-vintage style tiki lounge appeal and cavity-ridden cosmological cobbler, yay!

Enjoy this poetic pearl of paradise again, and in case you missed it, my novelty ode to cicadas as well, "Zenaida the Magicicada", yay! )

.
.
.
.
Simple as a sunrise,
.
.
recollections of vinyl lullabies,
.
.
refrains of Makalapua, preview of paradise…
.
.
.
.
.
honeycreepers hang like monkeys in the trees,
.
.
sailing through this purple orchid menagerie,
.
.
rising to the anthem of the Keawaiki chickadee…
.
.
.
.
.
sandhill skippers hula with the western pygmy blue,
.
.
south sea prom festivities across the Lahaini plumes,
.
.
sharing breath with our ancestors in this ancient lagoon…
.
.
.
.
.
so observe with the eyes,
.
.
listen with the ears, heart and mind,
.
.
paint your face with Kuilima sunshine…
.
.
.
.
.
hana ka hoe, pa'a ka waha…
.
.
hana ka hoe, pa'a ka waha
.
.
hana ka hoe, pa'a ka waha
.
.
ku`u makamaka…

Good morning, Kuilima Sunrise! I thoroughly enjoyed "sailing through this purple orchid menagerie" via the technicolour spill from thy Lahaini plumic quill!

If your aim is to delight your readers, then you can consider this poetic offering as mission accomplished!

"hana ka hoe, pa'a ka waha
.
.
ku`u makamaka…"

Loveya!
EA
P.S. I wish you well on your finals!
