I smile,
sit back
remembering the feel of fire

before eyes dimmed
through the smoldering ashes
of time.

It rewinds through the mind
the shy girl giggle laughter and
the love of loving
unconditionally

on back roads of life

that took us through forests
where day bled into night
and night to day

and neither forgets
that we once had passed this way
in our slow hurry
to go nowhere fast

and these memories,
though the passing of years would tell us otherwise,
they continue to keep us young
and it is then

that I am there
with you again

at the edge
of time.

I've seen the paintings in the air
brushed by the hand of God~ Lonestar

Beautiful, and yes our memories keep us at a moment in time.  Enjoyed this.

What a wonderful write.
Hit me square between the eyes.
Reminds me of the back roads I traveled quite a bit in Indiana.
A lot of memories for me.

This is a wonderful piece of writing.

You kind of took me back to places where I have been -- magical sunsets heating the evening as sand mingled with kisses.

I really love this poem.

Sometimes without meaning to I come across something that resonates with me. I'm sure glad I read this gem. it will take a long time for the echo within me to fade.
