Casablanca (The Stranger) The stranger entered a room full of havana cigars and turkish cigarettes, with creaky ceiling fans caressing the smoky mess, and belly dancers moving sensually in silhouette, dim lights that seemed to invite late night parlevous and musty corners an enticement for midnight rendezvous. A good cigar and an experienced belly dancer could do wonders for the aching bones of a lonely traveler; in the club taking her presence in, and later in a private room, the real fun would begin, with the one that was performing for his pleasure and seemed to be dancing just for him. She had the cutest smile wrapped around her face, and yet in spite of her smile, the stranger could sense a danger in this place. The stranger had never met his soulmate, only in his dreams, but this belly dancer dancing, was the closest he'd ever seen. And then the music stopped, as if a coin was dropped, and just as quick as that she was sitting on his lap. The subject of discussion, was the pleasure of a kiss, and she gave it with a passion that the stranger would never want to miss. And then she told the stranger, "There's one thing you should know, I'm the property of the notorious so and so. He's a jealous man, possessive and insecure, once he killed a man that touched my hand, and he'll kill you too I'm sure. I told her not to worry, for many a jealous man I'd played the game, for this was a Bogart movie and Bogart always gets the dame. JamesLee 01June 2007 |

Excellent last line, and I like the way you set the scene. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

"then the music stopped, as if a coin was dropped" I love this unlogical logic...a silence made by stopped music is same as a silence made by a dropping coin. wow, beautiful. the poem is beautiful. enjoyed as always. |
