Know it all There is an age that parents fear, A time when manners disappear. When siblings turn and just for fun, Hate everything, the time’s begun. Now all become pure selfish sods And think they walk where no one’s trod. They now behave like things from hell, Just why this happens, none can tell. Their mum and dad they disrespect, They seem to join a different sect. One that exists for them alone, They all become a ‘Kevin’ clone. There is no way, that them we’ll please, It’s worse than any dire disease. We pray their moods will go away, And dread the horrors of each day. Their adolescent age we blame, And know that once we were the same. But all we did was curse and swear, Nowadays they think, they walk on air. They think adults don’t understand, And they’re the first to walk this land. Parents never had their needs, Or ever lived in times like these. Sometimes out teens can be so vile, They moan and argue all the while. Their insults make us feel quite prone, To bless the day when they’ll leave home. The only thing that we can do, Is bear the brunt and see it through. These kids who now have no control, Will wake one day and find their soul. It’s now they drive us all insane, But surely where there’s pain, there’s gain. One day they’ll take a bloody fall, And find they didn’t know it all! Ivor G Davies The moment created this second, is a moment that's going to last. |

so well done Ivor and yes, we were the same weren't we? I believe that at the age of 12 all children receive a book of guidelines called "How to be a Teenager" if we could just find where those books come from... |

Yes, there is light at the end of the terrible teen tunnel! lol ~ and to think I thought that the "terrible twos" were trying! God bless my youngest! I had a lot of life lessons to learn through her! I'm glad I stuck it out! ~ She is a total delight and she is kind, respectful, responsible and with a sunny attitude! I got my little angel back! I loved your poem and it certainly brought back some 'interesting' memories! I also enjoyed the ease with which I could read the rhythm and rhyme! Giving you a warm, welcoming hug, EA |

Thank you all for your responses and those of you old enough to have left this problem behind, my deepest apologies for stirring the memories! Unfortunately, due to adopting a couple of children after our natural children had grown a little ( another story- to be posted one day) we are still on the pathway of hell. We are getting too old for this, where oh where is sanity? only kidding, they must grow up someday, if I don't kill them first.... Ivor PS Bring back the terrible two's.... |

Poor old Ivor, I feel for you But every word You've said is true You say goonight To angels sweet And wake in the morning To utter conceit They're ten feet tall (or think they are) Each one thinks They are a star To be pampered and spoiled For every whim They hate your clothes Think your brains gone dim They eat you out of House and home And no matter how hard You wish they'd roam The price is right So they sit tight Every night you kneel and pray Wishing fervently For that wonderful day When the house is quiet The music stops And that magic word We're moving Pops! OK Pops you’ve had your say About us modern youth Now I stand up and say No Way It’s you that needs the truth It’s like we owe the national debt Huh! Owe you back your life? Get real old man it’s you not us That caused your stress and strife I suppose you hated nappies too Or little boys that cried Punished us when we were right Praised us when we lied You’re oh so bloody perfect Nah Nah I told you so We just can’t all stop laughing As you put on your show You lost control dad years ago When No! Just might mean Yess So now we can’t be Bothered Won’t even try to guess You say there is No Free Lunch I guess we prove you wrong We play you for the mug you are Practiced all along So shut your face complaining You’re looking very sad Once we tire of this game You’ll still be my old dad But if you want to take me on Come on dad try your best You taught almost all I know Now I’ll teach you the rest |

First of all, I enjoyed this. I can't help but wonder if I was that bad as a teenager. I hope not! |

Oh Sonny you, just like I said, think that you know it all, that you invented everything, you're heading for a fall. But I've forgot more than you'll know, though I've taught you a lot... I'd need a few more decades to share in all I've got! Now take this new found arrogance and try it on your own. You'll soon come running back to Dad when you are all alone. For even though your hormones make you feel you are a man. When true reality hits you... you'll cry out for your Mam! The joys of youth, to know it all, get wet behind the ears.. Grow some feathers, learn to live, don't shout to hide your fears. Don't discount the wisdom of those who've walked before. For one day you'll be glad of them, to lift you off the floor! Oh, growing up is such a pain, but not for you, for us. I never known a teenager who didn't make a fuss. Thank God that we have been there to or else we might not know. That most of the aggression there is simply just for show! |

You think you are a policeman Strut about in charge Glance down at your belly now It’s getting far too large You like to do the Ironing? Tidy up the shelf? In this modern day and age It should do it itself But wait your Oh So Clever Then don’t you think it’s odd I get by on nothing (he he) You always need a job I can stay awake all night Sleep the whole day long In your institution… yawn You think that this is wrong? Your women may be full of grace Mine are young and free I know cause I am on the case Rather you than me I want to enjoy my youth Your chance has long since passed Not worry about my bedside teeth Or Living in the Past I can shout my head of My ears can stand the strain Your music bores me half to death Dead singers are a pain So when you tell me grow up You want me old like you ? Grow some bloody feathers What kind of fool are you Remember well the good old days When you were fit and able Now it’s coco in a mug Sitting at the table You cannot run to save your life Your bones all creak and groan Now to coin a well know phrase Just leave us kids alone |

You disrespectfully little brat how dare you speak to me. The one who gave you all you've got who makes your life so free. It's time my son, you took a walk with all the facts of life. So pack your bags and leave home now and get out of my life! |

Dad now don’t get Hyper I know you need some help Backed up in a corner it’s hard to see the light The law is on My Side you know “Kids have many rights” So many things you did for me has turned into this fight? You Cant kick me out of MY Home The Law is on my side If you need some good advice remember we are equal You can leave… that’s up to you, Where will you reside? Before you speak you need to learn what would be the sequel I know you think that age has rights and you can pull your rank Not strictly true I must point out life isn’t just like that For half your education it’s me that you should thank If you need obedience you should have raised a cat To outsmart me you cannot bluff or try to shout me down Or play up on my conscience; like you do all the time It’s so easy for me to wind you up See how I wrote this poem in rhyme that doesn’t rhyme So you tell me that black is black I say it is white Who cares what you are thinking when I know I am right You took me on now keep me the way I mean to stay Your dogs are treated better you don’t ask them to pay http://www.parentscentre.gov.uk/forum/index.cfm |

You know that we won't kick you out although your always rude Even though your attitude is aways very crude But don't you think you should grow up and finally find a way To live like normal children do no sponging every day. I've never know the hormones that lingered on so long Forcing all to tolerate your adolescent song. When blowing out your candles just the other day I hoped you'd find maturity on your 50th Birthday! |

Sorry folks, I got so tied up in my replies to that stupid kid (only joking) I forgot to thank you all for you very welcome support and comments. Bea's poetry added to the ongoing saga and it is always nice to have your granny on your side! Thanks once again, Ivor |
