There will come a time in life
I will think back and wonder
where you are and if you're well-

I will flip through the pages of my memories,
it's just too great a tale to tell.

I know this because I know
I can't stay here too much longer,
we live our lives too much apart,
and our time together doesn't make us stronger.

But I love you all the same,
like I will for many years to come,
you're not mine, I've no right to you
and the guilt has left me numb.

God let me have you for awhile,
when I needed you to make it through,
greed is something He doesn't like,
I couldn't get enough of you.

And then it came to this.
It became a thing I didn't miss.
I built up a certain resistance
and now I can love you from a distance...

I will love you for all my years
and always wonder how you are, through tears.

There is some very ‘real’, powerful, interesting
‘food for careful thought’ in this ‘write’!...for example:

“...I can't stay here too much longer,

and:
