secret song

I think it was on Rue Bastille
that sidewalk café
I know it was morning
sun watched
blue paint flake from the chair opposite me
waiter called me my lady
my fingers prodded uneven rind of Chaource
seeking the soft pâte
a distraction
nothing more
bitter coffee suited me

I dreamed of time
as told by the red Murano clock
you brought me from Venice
and the empty green sky
you left behind

small boy
gone from his mother's side
chased birds crumbpecking under my table
flutter of wings
then the call
   Robin
   venez ici
   come here

no boy
no birds

waiter please
send me a guitar player
with a secret song

   oh my lady
   never in the morning

in the morning you must deal with alone
   alone

Oh gads....

you do manage to string some bitter
from the sweet...

and then you marmalade minds....

and bittersweet is the mix.

Well done, m'friend.

It's as if you play my heart like that guitar -- I feel every word you write and I see every picture you paint.  You are an artist.

Kate - You set the scene so very well and concluded with a truth applicable to many.  Excellent!

Lady Kate... such vivid imagery pulls one into the scene you paint, like an exquisit woven tapestry.. and compels them to be an observer within. The conclusion plucks at the heart string to reverberate and resonate a feeling that touches deep in the soul.

" in the morning you must deal with alone
   alone"

... with only a smoldering ember of a warm memory moment to remind you of its worth.

Thank you so much for sharing this, Milady. Much felt... much truth... much enjoyed.
