To have been so long dormant appears only vague, a dim spark of remembrance of some former flame. Having once been recalled from the dissolute past to regain definition surprisingly fast. From the curve of the cheek to the line of the brow, laughter caught in the glint of deep chestnut brown eyes. A faint scent of perfume, some subliminal trace, brings a ghost of a smile to illumine this face. Reminiscent of us, for a very brief time one can hold such an image before it will fade. Maybe somewhere ours' both share a glance like before, when one avenue's closed time may open one more, as would seem that perhaps in the ghost of a smile we remain now as then, where we were all the while. |

nakd, Thank you. At times it seems almost possible to recapture that which has long faded away. Eyes close, and with a slow intake of breath, a moment may be relived, sometimes with a clarity that is almost startling, if the emotion was there to begin with. This is what I have tried to convey. Doc "where we were all the while" a special memory does not leave...it may hide awhile until something triggers it back up into the conscious mind...my triggers are music or fragrance. Lovely poem. ![]() |

Martie, You said it exactly ,"triggers". They could be anythinjg, but the two you listed are among the most common. Sometimes all it takes is to let the mind wander 'till it settles on some image or another. Thanks Doc |

Maybe somewhere ours' both share a glance like before, when one avenue's closed time may open one more, That is my favorite part.. Go back twenty tears just past the mega plex you'll find me there searching for your soul wondering why it's taken so long for two to become one for US to finally be whole. You've inspired me. ~~~kingsangel~~~ |

yanno, not only was this poem profound in structure, feelings and memories, but while reading I thought, how lucky you are to have such memories...the only memories I have of past loves are not good, you see, the last things you remember of a person, are the way they act, yanno, all the bad stuff, especially when someone is mean to you. It presents a character that is not so good...so, wallow in these memories for me to...cuz it must be nice to simply dream the day away with her, and them... hugs to ya [This message has been edited by LeeJ (03-01-2007 07:31 AM).] |

"Maybe somewhere ours' both share a glance like before, when one avenue's closed time may open one more," I especially adore the above lines ... WOW! I like those "sparks" of memory from long ago too, and you have expressed that sentiment fabulously. Enjoyed. always seeking joy, adventure and romance and wishing you find the same |

Angel ( if I may abbreviate ), It's not often anyone resurrects what has passed, I am honored. Actually, the fact you have dredged up some of these has inspired me as well in the form of a sonnet posted today as "Yesterdays Everlast". Thank you for your kind comments. Doc LeeJ, Thank you. I am indeed fortunate to have memories such as these, but, not all are as rosy as I would picture them, in fact, the reality of the situation would probably be closer to what you have described, however, this makes for a much nicer story. Doc passing shadows, Thanks to you. No, not forgotten, just remembered the way we'd rather. Doc Janette, Thanks so much. It very well could have happened like this. I'm sure I would have much preferred it was so, and I guess from the response, there are more who would prefer the same. When people part ways it doesn't always have to be a nightmare, although that seems to be the most common route. Doc tracie66, Thank you , I'm glad you liked this and remembered someone fondly. Doc iliana, Thank you. It was heartfelt, even if the details have been changed to protect the not quite so innocent. My best to you, Doc |
