There’s something that does hold me down
And will not set me free
It’s something that does hold me back
A force called gravity

I jump but quickly fall back down
Just moments let me fly
I’d love to have the gift of flight
But give up when I try

I dream at times of things I’d love
In sleep each day has worth
But then I wake to find in truth
I’ve been brought back to earth

I think of heaven quite a bit
Where God and Jesus both might sit
I tell my soul to go and see
But gravity won’t set it free

There’s many things I do not know
And things I’d like to try
But if I jump down off a roof
I know I’m gonna die

So gravity and me are mates
He pressures me each day
To just accept the ways things are
And how much life does weigh

Rick,

I have to grab on to a dream
in order to see the heights we may fly...

but every dawn, I'm back on the grass,
straining to look far away into the secret sky...
