Making Room

Do what you have to do.
I have no right to you
though I have the sense to know
I don't know how to let you go.

I know I failed you somehow
but this is done and over now
you do what you have to do
and I will be here for you.

I'm not sure of any other way
I'll keep to myself what I have to say
deeper than where the darknesses flow
beyond my oceans never to let you go.

Only you, you were and are
you will see I'll go that far
to hold you in my eyes
and in my heart that cries.

I do what I have to do today
unable to recognize what I'm unable to say
might I be broken like then but soon
you will see that I have made the room.

Do what you have to do.
I'll be here for you
because I have the sense to know
I don't know how to let you go.

If I may Dixie...please know, We don't fail anyone else...what we do do, though, is we cannot live up to their expectations of love and life...nobody can, unless they find a like soul? yanno?

Please do not sell yourself short...love who you are, and the fact that not one more second was contributed to a relationship that merely was not compatible.
Love ya kiddo....and your poetry...keep on penning...
