trapped inside your arms
a place i didn't want to be
you wanted a savior
something only you could do
but i could never be
you changed the locks
to keep her out
holding me way to tightly
yet i knew, i knew
our house of pain
and all the what if's
i knew the many waves goodbye
and those unforgiving mistakes
i feared i would make

it would take only one

I lied

you got even

again

and
again

knowing your lies
duty fell hard
uttering affirmations
as an understanding woman

prophetic visions
led your secrets
from red roses to black
the ones you couldn't tell
which forced you into
so many arms

you were ignorant of me
I was under attack
slipping from my fingertips
was the sound of your heart
banishing me from your eyes
your heart
your soul

she was the voice of you
i, your tell tale truth
my poverty was you
you couldn't decide
between us

lawlessness, godless
fear shamed us all
the hurt was deceitful
yet, you dwell within me
from afar
for a very long time

hearing attainable breath
who called truth
and that whisper again
inside of you
(she loves me, she loves me not)

still learning words
wondering where
the designation
of our division
began…
from the sound of that
first wet kiss
speaking
unattainable hearts
your words
think and feel

I felt everything

great power will not move a name
you held me high over your head
then I stumbled and fell
sad
so sad

your look of disgust
the hurt I could never take back
shamed my embrace
sober resting place
for my words you thought
to be lies

I learned I was a Las Vegas
game, you put money on
and won

the sin of our own keeping
is always fear...
yet,
I still hear your words
whispering

"I love you"

but you loved them all
didn't you?

  ...you return to me
to them
  & to the new
again, and again
sad

?

~ Like the proverbial bad penny that keeps showing up!

"I felt everything" ~ and thy sensitivity bodes well for the fine poetess that ye be!

Sending a big hug-o-love,

Yes, LeeJ, it is a sad story and one I fear to be all too real for many of us but the telling of it is outstanding.  I enjoy the depths you always take me to.  Thank you!
