An answer to my own challenge.... He picked the rose, so gentle Its crimson petals cradled His tears fall, detrimental Remembering their love so fabled Longing for time to remove him To a place in the past she dwelled But the hourglass, so loathsome Pinched the sands as slowly, the fell As her last sweet breath escaped her She pleaded for reprieve Her lover, chained still by horror Had watched as her soul took leave The forge of time now beckons him Move forward it demands But the will of hammering escapes him A blacksmith cursed with porcelain hands My child's smile tells me there's still hope |

Hi, Kris! I am pleased that you posted this lovely poem in Open for it will have more people reading it than if it were posted in Challenges. ![]() I enjoyed your rendition in answer to your own challenge! As a matter of fact, the others did a great job in meeting it as well! Don't be such a stranger, Soldier Man! It was a pleasure to read your poetry again! Giving you a warm hug 'n smile, Linda |

Enchantress I thank you for your kind words. As always, they make me feel like I'm at home. LeeJ I have only read a few of your posts as I have been estranged from the forums for some time, but I do so enjoy finding new poets that are talented.....and this place has more than its share. EarthAngel, it seems funny to hear "soldier man" again. Those days seem so long ago. Now the only marching I do is pacing to get our little girl to sleep. Although, I do find this type of soldiering much more rewarding. I think I may have just found my next topic. I guess you have been my muse for this. thank you!!! My child's smile tells me there's still hope |

Thanks again guys. Yeah Marge, I like the beat of this drum a lot better...although Kylie is a lot more demanding than any CO I have ever had, and SO much prettier. My child's smile tells me there's still hope |
